Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami on UK rape and sex trafficking charges
British authorities are seeking the brothers' extradition over dozens of criminal charges spanning several years.

Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami at the request of British authorities, according to the US Marshals Service.

The brothers were taken into custody on Saturday as part of an extradition request from the United Kingdom. A person familiar with the matter confirmed the arrest but spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly. The US Marshals Service said the warrant remains sealed.

In a statement, the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Andrew Tate, 39, faces seven additional rape charges, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and 19 charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.

Tristan Tate, 38, has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The alleged offenses are said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.

"We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child," said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS's Special Crime Division.

"These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven."

Bedfordshire Police said the brothers now face a combined total of 59 charges, including 42 against Andrew Tate and 17 against Tristan Tate. Authorities said they are working with national and international law enforcement agencies as part of what they described as a complex investigation.

The Tate brothers, who have built large social media followings through content promoting hypermasculinity, have consistently denied wrongdoing. Following their arrest, an attorney representing them said they are innocent and may seek to challenge the arrest in court.

The latest charges are separate from an earlier UK case in which the brothers were already facing 21 criminal charges, including rape, human trafficking, and assault-related offenses.

Andrew Tate faces 10 charges in that original case involving three alleged victims. Tristan Tate faces 11 charges connected to one alleged victim.

Earlier this year, a High Court judge rejected the brothers' legal request to be informed of the identities of their female accusers.

The two men are also facing criminal charges in Romania, where they were arrested in December 2022. Those charges include human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized criminal group.
